My modest build

2 Attachment(s)
So just over four years ago I bought a 2012 GTI with the most basic of basic packages. Growing up building muscles cars the only thing i cared about was the drivetrain and engine. I got my car on the cheap with only 127 miles on it; and a hidden advantage I would discover later is I saved a TON of weight by going with a 3dr w/o a sunroof.

I remember telling the salesman that I would never chip it; that I really liked it exactly how it was. This is still true for the most part.

Im not making the car a track car... nor am i making it a show car. I just like fixing things i see to be issues (eg. understeer; power; tq steer; aesthetic issues etc). Most of all I am not trying to go beyond the limits of the car/engine/drivetrain. I am a big believer of balance in all things... but mostly in cars.

This car is juvenile but capable; its outlandish but oddly tamed; its unassuming but with a heavy right foot will embarrass you in any kind of race.

This is my girl Radical Ed

Very nice and simple. I would want to call it OEM+ :w00t:

Have you dyno'd the car?

Thanks man. I will say it has been absolute work to keep it clean. A year in alabama without a garage where it rains every other day. And now germany and their love for rock salt :/

Havent gotten a chance to dyno it yet manny. i really want to because ive seen similar setups run 270+ on 93; but ive also seen them run 250. Ill get around to it once the car is "complete" to me. (if that time will ever come)

So today i took out these cheapa$$ metal braces:

And replaced it with a Unibrace UB :)

Attachment 38363

My initial reactions are pretty similar to what you may have read from this mod. An exceptional resistance to body flex; and a certain "tightness" around the bends.

But what i was most impressed by is how much it helps the suspension overall. Bumps, turns and even fwd acceleration. Until i get my coilovers I have to suffer through the stiffness of my H&R springs. While the unibrace certainly doesnt soften anything it does make the car feel more composed going over bumps. The car feels like it wants to be a straight line all the time.

Im really anxious to get this out on some B roads here in Germany and stretch her legs :)

Looks great. How did you get the KM/H speed in your center display? I'm trying to do this with the VAG-COM. Thanks

Under "settings" on your mfi... then look for "alt speed" i think it is. Shouldnt need to vag your car for it
