That paper dont say anything about the manual gearbox.

The new Golf R sprints from 0 to 100 km/h – also via all-wheel drive – in 5.7 seconds. The Golf R does this even better with the optional DSG gearbox, sprinting to 100 km/h in a sensational 5.5 seconds and requiring just 8.4 litres petrol per 100 kilometres (equivalent to 195 g/km CO2) at the fuel pump.

Why would they do that? Isn't the newer CCTA/CBFA engine a big improvement over the old BPY engine (materials, structure, design, etc.)? I found this interesting read that explains the difference (scroll to bottom of page):

And does anybody know the spec of the turbo? Is it some sort of K04 or even bigger?

If it comes to states please let it have a manual gearbox option, pretty please, I like to shift it slooooow sometimes...:thumbup:

32K sounds about right, it would be worth waiting for till end of 2010 if it delivers the goods. 300+ horsepower (tuned) will help it to compete with EVO's and STI's nice!

i do not know why you all keep saying that this will 'compete' with Evos or STI.

the awd system is pathetic in the VW.

surely if the GTI mk5 already was better than the WRX round a track...what would the new mk6 version do? and the r20 is defo better than the GTI round a track...so what about that?

Does anyone have any idea as to when the the R20 will be available in Australia? Also what price are we looking at?? The ones i saw on a link someone posted were alot higher than the out going R32?? I dont know whether to wait for it or go with the GTI..
