Hey guys! This is my first build thread I've done. I wanted to do one to help document what I've done to my car and because who doesn't like a build thread? Hopefully I'll stick to updating this every few weeks.

Car History.

The first car that got me into modding was my 00 Civic 5spd. I loved that thing, it was so much fun to drive. Unfortunately I found out at 1320's Ice Cream Cruise that I had no oil in at while on my way to the track night portion of the event and heard a noise coming from the engine. Turns out I spun a rod bearing and I called it quits on the car instead of fixing it. Ended up with a 06 TSX auto after and didn't really mod that car at all other than a cone air filter. After a drunk driver hit me one late night and totaling the car I ended up buying an 08 GTI 6spd on impulse. Never was into VWs at the time but now I can't turn back lol.

The MK5 was like the next step up from my civic to me. I had an intake and resonator delete but it was so much fun. Then one night while at B-Dubs I heard a noise and look outside and it is hailing like there's no tomorrow. The MK5 ended up getting totaled out and insurance gave me almost double what the KBB value was, I'll call that a win. After that news I knew I wanted a MK6 GTI or FR-S. The FR-S prices are still to high IMO for the amount of car you're getting. So I chose the GTI and found one in Des Moines with a good carfax of parts that needed replacing had already been done. Drove 2 hours to get in and few hours later a 12 GTI DSG was mine.

Sadly less than 5 hours into ownership and it threw a CEL. I forgot the code but I believe it was ignition related so I had to go back to DM to get my MK5. So when I came back I swapped coils to the R8s off the 5. That didn't fix it so I took it to VW. Turns out cyl 4 was misfiring so they replaced the injector. I also had them do a carbon cleaning while the IM was off even though the valves weren't that bad. After that she ran perfect.

I didn't like how quiet the car was, especially when I shifted, I could barely tell when it did. Ordered a Beluga catback a few days later. I love that its quiet until you get on it. After that I finally ordered coilovers bc I never did it with my MK5 and talked about it for forever. Just installed those a few days ago and man do I miss being low lol. Next up for the car is some winter tires and a DP. Then a tune later down the road. Now on to the pictures!

My MK5 GTI with my buddy's R32. The height difference was so unreal. We ran over a pine cone in the R32 & it hit his skid plate. We couldn't help but laugh

As she sits of now. I need to get new wheels or get these refinished cause 3 out of 4 of these are destroyed.

Update! Got the Beluga DP a few weeks ago and installed it at work. Between myself and another tech we knocked it out in an hour. Loooove the sound, its so much louder when you're above 3k RPM. Next up is installing my boost gauge. Had the one from my MK5 I but didn't have the correct boost tap bc that car had a catch can.
