Speed..

After looking it up, it looks like they changed the material of the car. Now, they are using some type of sheet metal, and not steel.

Thing is, the car is a little over 1,000lbs lighter.. With a 30% weight reduction, wouldn't the car be much faster than older models? According to VW, its not..

I'm comparing what it says on VW's site (3,034 lbs for the 2 door) and what my friends gti says on the door (almost 4200lbs)

3,034 is the curb weight. 4200 or whatever is with payload.

Thats stupid, how they include that in the wieght. When i get mines in two weeks i will weigh it and post my results

4100lb is not possible for that small car...

what you are looking at on the doorjam is probably the Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight.. meaning the most weight that car can take.
