There are damaged cars, and there are flood damaged cars, and then there are saltwater/sewage/storm damage cars.

This is worse than any of those.

A few years ago my friend was the victim of a freak Chicago storm that resulted in the flooding of the subterranean garage of his condo building that was on the banks of the Chicago River. Some of you locals might remember that storm from about 4 years ago, the storm flooded the river, and overtopped the retaining wall at River City. It flooded out the entire ground floor of River City, including the garage, all the mechanical sub-basements, and ultimately filled that parking garage to the rafters with water, sewage, and whatever else was in the water.

Parked in that garage was a mint 1991 GTI with a ton of rare modifications.

When they pulled the car out of the garage, the floodwater in the headlamps stripped the reflective coating off the housings and turned ALL the major wiring in that car to a corroded mess that resembled the Titanic.

THAT was with FRESH water.

There is a very good reason boats and cars, when flooded with saltwater, are INSTANTLY totaled.
