Something's very wrong. We've run our Viper Comp Coupe at tracks with similar restrictions and at worst we have to attach a diverter to the end of the exhaust to direct the outlet downward and we pass. The full race Viper is a very loud car.

As in, the valve broke and is closed all the time? No idea. Would a vag-com scan show it?

This is true. Seeing other cars at the track (including Viper ACRs) I was pretty puny compared to them. To be fair, I was a bit off in my measurement - I was 96 dB at 30ft, but to fail the sound check you had to be 92 at 50 - which is very, very different.

Still doesn't explain where my 4K spike went, though...

Yea it might be stuck closed. I have mine unhooked so it's open all the time, so there's no real change any more.

if it is stuck closed, what's the impact, aside from noise? I was under the impression that there is no power gain or loss from it.

You know, until I saw this post I had no idea that the R had a bi-mode exhaust so I had to actually go under it and look. Stock it's so damned quiet you would never know.

When it is open on my Corvette (either by RPM or by remote control) you, and everyone around you knows it's running open.
