Since I am shopping for a new car come 2014, modding has officially stopped on this GTI.

I'll probably track it a few more times but these parts will be going up for sale soon. APR Stage 3 will be coming off as soon as I get time to schedule the de-mod back to APR Stage 1.

The parts:
  1. APR Carbonio Stage 1
  2. APR FMIC - this will probably go to my mechanic
  3. APR Stage 3 kit with downpipe and resonated midpipe
  4. 16" VW OEM Bioline Wheels
  5. 16" Rial Milanos
  6. 17" TR Motorsports MT1s
  7. H&R 28 mm front sway bar
  8. H&R 26 mm front sway bar
  9. H&R 24 mm rear sway bar
  10. Koni FSDs BNIB for MK6 GTI
  11. H&R TDI Touring Cup Kit
  12. ECS Tuning 312x25 BBK kit for the TDI

I have a used tire place by my house and the owner said he'd gladly unmount my rims for the used tires.

I had HB Motorwerks in Chesapeake, VA install my H&R 28/24 front and rear sways, with hard rear and soft front setting. Also I had my Koni FSDs put back on.

FSDs really soak up the sharp hits from highway joints.

Also I have zero to little body roll due to the sways. However, the sways make the car under steer like crazy, to the point of the car being overly predictable on turn in, which is fine for the track but boring on the road, since now I have to be really fast to get the car into its limits.

I just put some of these parts up for sale. Check them out now.

I got run off the road this morning, a white Chevy Cruze decided to pass into me from the left while I was in the right lane. I hit my brakes and went for the side walk and curb on the right.

My two Goals are curbed and the tires had chunks and tears in them

No collision but my wheels and tires are DOA, my belly pan is scratched and rough, and my alignment is now off.

I just bought two new Kumho Ecsta 4x's and two new Goals.

I just need to get the car on a lift so I can check the undercarriage.

My collision is $500 deductible so I am wondering if it is worth dipping into that to get reimbursed for the repairs.

That sucks.

I'd notify your insurance company at least, that way if you need to open a claim, they've got the incident on file.

Hopefully it's just tie rods and not anything more involved like strut/LCA/subframe replacement.

I filed a claim with Geico and sent them pics.

I just need to find time to go to a shop with a lift to check how bad the right side undercarriage damage is.

The Ecstas seem to be fine but when you lift up the tire damage flap you can see the belts underneath.

The cost of wheels and tires alone has covered your deductible already, no?

Knowing how bad it could get, I'd say pursue a claim at this point to minimize any further losses. Good call on replacing the tires, the belts will rust and eventually give way, leading to a blowout.

Upcoming mods:

1. Stoptech 328mm BBK, red and slotted
2. ECS 10.5 mm spacers for front and back

Also, since I don't really care about hellaflush, those 10.5mm spacers might be right back on the market if I can get away with 8mm H&R spacers. I only bought those since ECS had a complete kit with ball seat 40mm bolts.

I was also thinking of getting a black Katzkins interior. The dog hair I am vacuuming out weekly really sticks to the cloth, I never had this issue with my 2007 TSX's interior.

Definitely a stiffer tire like you said.

On cold mornings they flat spot really bad to the point where there's steering wheel vibration. But when they are warmed up they drive nice and vibration free.
