I got my 2010 6spd last year for 17k with 47k miles. At the time I wouldn't say I over paid, all the other GTI's I was looking at were about 3k more expensive with only like 5k miles less which to me wasn't worth it. Doesn't matter how cheap you pay, chances are after you buy, a cheaper one will pop up lol just go with what you can afford and what meets your "wants" the most.

I had a 2011 Jetta on-lease, that the lease wasn't up for another year and 2 months when I turned it in for my current 2012 2dr 6spd w/ 15k miles (this was in April of last year). The sticker price on my GTI was 22.5. I turned my lease in early, (they're supposed to charge you ~1k to do that) and drove off the lot that day paying 20 even after taxes AND an 850$ tire insurance package. You can definitely get a similar deal. That said, this was my immediate family's 5th purchase from this dealer. They treat their returning customers well... So i'm not too sure if you'll have quite THAT much luck. But I hope this helps! Also congrats!!! First GTI??

edit: my GTI is a convenience package, (sunroof, steering wheel controls/multifunx trip computer, RCD 510 touch-screen 6-disc CD changing head unit, no nav) so that's all the more negotiating power you have considering yours is a base model.

No sir, you are not. Cars are big, expensive decisions that you're stuck with for a decent amount of time before you get to get another one. I agree with you, I'd go 200 miles for the 2k13. Not to mention I like the lagunas more than the Detroits (depending on body color).
