I've read that the 2.5 actually looses power with headers but have read good things about the USP Catted mid pipe, regardless of the cutback it's a good addon.

Eurojet GTI Catback

On my 2013 2.5L I'm running a Eurojet 3" GTI Catback and the stock resonator was replaced with a Magnaflow. I'm also running a USP Motorsports Cold Air Intake and Integrated Engineering's Stage 1 ECU Software. Pushing 197 HP // 219 lb and it sounds amazing! Barely any drone. Totally manageable on the freeway too!

I put back my TectonicsTuning single borla muffler exhaust a few days ago, this is the setup I'm running, not too much drone on highway and it's possible to be quiet in the city, just stay in gear 4 when reaching 50km/h and be nice with the gas pedal. From a stop, you just have to shift fast to avoid back-fire sound.

If you are planning to change your exhaust setup for a TT Single borla, I recommend you to put a bit more money on the 2 borla muffler version.

I got the AWE Cat Back, sounds great. Thinking of also getting the usp high flow cat test pipe. Here is a video of the sound. Feel free to check out my YT channel its full of 2.5L stuff.

Lightbulb

I like my quiet Axleback GTI suitcase muffler but my Son who is away at University most of the year wants a bit more sound without the rasp of removing the mid muffler or resonator. I'm thinking of doing this solution in the future with a exhaust valve similar to the TTRS exhaust.

HERE IS THE VIDEO!

Found this Exhaust Valve

With the great resonance of the VW 2.5 inline 5 we should sound better than the GTI in the video... .

AWE catback, installed about a month ago - love it ! I also combined this with an AME intake and a Stage 1 tune from integrated engineering. I love the difference it has made to my golf.
