Golf R vs STI vs EVO vs Scirroco R vs Civic TypeR

Hopefully this isn't a repost... but kinda gives an idea of what the MKVI chassis is capable of...

Athough the Evo had the fastest lap times,

Both the Golf R and Scirroco R had times that where faster than the STI... maybe the advantage was because of the DSG.

Also consider that although the Scirroco R was front wheel drive (like our GTI's)... the laptimes where pretty much identical to the times of the all wheel drive Golf R... interesting...

This implies that the MKVI chassis in general is pretty well balanced... the scirocco seems to be a modified version of that chassis...

With the right modifications to engine, suspension, and brakes, the GTI would be able to keep up with EvoX's and STI's on a racetrack...

to me it seems like a stage 2+ gti would be pretty equal to a scirroco R

Yeah, assuming you don't mod the other cars. I can't believe that SST GSR is almost two full seconds faster than that Golf R. The 4B11 has a pretty big turbo stock. A $400 ECU remap makes 65whp, because acceleration is its main weak point in stock form.

Im talkin bout suspension, tire, and brake mods to make up for the power and traction deficit... Mods to make it faster through the turns... In addition to the mild engine ecu remaps

you're forgetting one very important factor. The Scirroco R is about 275 pounds lighter than the Golf R. Maybe thats why the laptimes were identical. Also 4WD might or might not be an advantage depending on what kind of track you're on.
