I know this because using our benchmarking software and database, I actually have the chance to see a full teardown of an MKV and an MK6 part by part.

My MKV TSI = MK6 TSI - interior and XDS
I enjoyed driving my friends' MkV FSI (believe it was an '07.) Seemed a little more spongy and tossable. He was definitely jelly when he drove mine.

Saw a girl LOOSE HER SHIT in a white MkV GTI when I passed by her the first day I commuted in mine back in 2010. She was rocking the hang loose and screaming out the window. I must have been the first that she saw. Ever since then I've got nothing but love for MkV owners

I'm excited to see what the MkVII has to offer, stats look good. I'll certainly withhold judgement until I see it in the flesh. Will I freak-out like that chick did? I hope so.

As for it's competition, I'm all for the Dart and the ST. The more turbo four-bangers the merrier. I'm getting sick of all the portable apartments scooting about.

Gotta love how a Focus ST thread turned into a Mk5 vs Mk6 battle royal. lol... At any rate, I like the new Focus ST, quite a bit. I was hell bent on getting a new Mk6 but I might hold off to see what the ST brings.

Overboostin'

So there's this:

http://rumors.automobilemag.com/over...on-147045.html

This would be cool for an aftermarket tune on the MK6... based on engine parameters like EGT, intake temp, coolant temp, etc., the ECU would decide if it can handle a bit more boost on the press of a button, above and beyond what the tune does by default. Might sound gimmicky, but I would DEF jump on that for the cool factor :-P

I almost ended up with a 6MT C30. Literally the only thing that kept me from getting it was the low trade-in they were going to give me for my beat MKV GTI. They were transferring plates and everything and then they came back with the trade-in value and I gasped and walked. ($9,800 while VW gave me $11,300 the same day).

I am VERY glad I got the GTI instead. The C30 looked good, had a nice interior, was plenty quick for me, and drove solid but only had 4-seats, tiny hatch, and got worse gas mileage. And for the same price as my GTI was a bit less equipped (namely had 17" wheels).

I think the Focus ST looks promising but for the me, at the cost, it falls a bit short. Two major things I don't like about it;
- Interior. The whole thing. Aesthetic and build/material quality and ergonomics
- No LSD. I know the GTI doesn't have one (yet) but the ST has 52 more hp and 63 more lb-ft.

In any event, the MKVII GTI that is said to have as much as 260hp, have a Haldex LSD, and be lighter with an even better interior will just rock the ST and anything else in the class. Even if the ST MAYBE has a leg up on the MKVI GTI for a year.

I am very anxious to see the inevitable comparisons tests in the coming months. I think the GTI is going to be hard to beat. Even IF the ST is a tad quicker.

I don't think I will own another Ford. I had a focus and had an elctrical problem that would cause the car to die. The bigger issue was Ford's customer service in trying to get it fixed. The worst experience I've had with dealership repairs out of all the various cars I have owned. I've had the best experience with Toyota repairs, I never needed any.

Already getting rave reviews in Europe. I'd get one in a heartbeat, if I was still in the market.

Regarding the Dart: the Alfa underpinnings look really promising, much better than anything Chrysler themselves could make. But why can't Fiat just get their shit together and get their US Alfa relaunch on track? I'd shop a Guiletta that the Dart is based on. That's a very pretty car. The Dart is one of the most hideous things I've ever laid eyes on.
