Hi all,
I have heard talk about these Bold Sport LED replacement signal bulbs, and I figured I'd just go for it and see what they're like. I installed the front and rear signals last night and got some pics of the install. I'll show the install first then get to what I think. Just for your info, I am doing this on a 2010 4DR DSG....though I believe they are the same. Don't quote me on that though....just like anything I ever say.

OK, so if everything goes perfectly you actually do not need ANY tools for this. Seriously, it's all very easy hand plugs and items. However, for mine, I needed the following:
-Small metal file
-Sand paper
-Calipers
My front LED's had quite a bit of epoxy runoff and actually did not let the base properly fit into the opening in the headlight housing. Pictures and more description at that step shown below.
Lights arrived in less than a week...I think it took 6 days total. Packaging was fine and lights were in good condition upon arrival. Front lights are on top, rears are below with black base.
I will start with the rears, since those went off without any issues. Removing the rear tails was surprisingly simple. From the back hatch, pull the carpet lining down and it should just slide out from under the plastic trim holding it in place. Once you have a part out from under the trim, pull that portion out further until you have enough space to access the black plug and the white screw with spring. Pressing down on the "bulge" in the picture helps get it started.
Undo the plug and unscrew the white screw. The white screws come completely out.
After that the tail light will slide right out from the body.
You will need to remove the backing of the light from the lens. Undo the 4 clips by pushing the tab outward. Leave the bottom one (labeled "This tab last") for now. Pull up on the backing from the top. After you pull the backing out a little, the bottom clip should be easier to remove.
Pull the backing off gently and you will find the two bulbs. The signal bulb pulls straight out, didn't give me any trouble.
Put the LED in the socket. There is no front/back, both directions line up the leads on the LED. Make sure to push it in fully. It will go in half way easily, then you will have to push it all the way in.
Make sure the grey foam seal around the outside of the housing is in place, mine came out during removal. It fits easily back into the slot, then slide the two pieces of the lens back together making sure all 5 clips snap. Slide the light back on the car and plug the wiring back in and put white screw back to hold light in place. Tuck the carpet back to cover the opening. The passenger side is identical, but there is a little less room to undo the plug and the screw.
Back Lights should be good! I hit the unlock on my remote to flash the lights to check them. I would check each light before you put back the white screw, just to save yourself some time if there is an issue.
Fronts...hopefully yours are in better condition than mine. It wasn't terrible, and they work great, there was just some epoxy runoff that prevented the base from fitting into the opening. So, before you install yours look for the build up, shown in the picture.
Check the light with calipers to ensure you are OK. The stock bulbs are about 19.97mm at that base, so make sure your new LED's match. I had to sand epoxy off both of mine, down from about 20.60mm when they arrived. Not terrible, but certainly not happy with the quality of the product to start things off.
To install:
Open up the hood. I took off my filter to give myself more working room (I have a Neuspeed P-Flo) but you may not have to do this, depending on the intake that you have. There is a circular door that accesses the signal and parking light bulbs, looks identical on either side.
Driver's Side:
Passenger's Side:
Open and close directions are labeled...pretty straight forward. They are not threaded, they just have little catches on the inside, so only about 1/8th turn then it should pull out. Inside looks as shown:
Be careful of the parking light, it can fall out easily. Grab the grey base of the signal light and rotate it counter-clockwise (if you are looking at it from the perspective in the picture) and it should unclip and slide right out. There is a button on the grey base that will release the bulb from the plug. The bulb slides straight off at that point.
Clip the LED in and put back into the slot in the headlight housing. On the plug there is a long tab and a short tab. The long tab should be pointing towards the driver's side of the car (as shown). Slide it in and twist until it clicks in place. You can test the bulbs right after you plug it in to make sure everything is working.
Put the covers back on and it's as simple as that. Easy install, cool product. Even with my little sanding issue, I am actually very happy with the lights. They look fantastic! The fronts are slightly less bright than stock, but only by a little, and the quick light up/shut off of the LED's makes the car look so sharp. Check out the video. I put one LED in and left the other stock for comparison, video quality isn't great...sorry.

Overall, do I like the lights? Absolutely!
Am I 100% satisfied? No, due to the epoxy runoff...but for the most part, yes Let's say 95%.
Lights look awesome, they came quickly, and weren't too expensive. They are staying on, unless some problem comes up.
No codes yet (only been a day), will report back. Mileage for reference: 27,742.
