Engine Rattle Under Acceleration

Since there are many R owners who are experiencing this problem :mad0259: and VW has acknowledged this same exact problem on other models, I have started a petition for us to gain some traction in hopes of a resolution.

it's you number 1 cat rattling against the heat shield. Get a downpipe and the problem should go away.

I had a buzz at 3,500 RPMs it turned out to be the little heat shield located by the number 1 O2 sensor (near the turbo), you might check that too. I added some bend and that stopped.

I never had any engine rattles on my Golf R........my GTi on the other hand (different engine) has had timing chain tensioner rattles and turbo wastegate rattles.

Im in Australia so no doubt whatever petition you guys have in USA does not apply here and vica versa etc.

Ive had the timing chain tensioner replaced (at my cost) for piece of mind anyway.
