Speaker Layout & Audio Advice Needed (4dr Golf Highline)

Merelington

Ready to race!
Background:

I'm new to the whole car audio situation as in my last car I simply replaced the head unit with an alpine deck and called it a day.

I have a 2010 4 door Golf Highline with 8 speakers and the RCD-510. Since I don't want to replace the head unit or take up space with a sub I figured I would just replace the speakers and add an amp if need be.

For the first stage I'm going to replace the tweeters and mids up front with Hertz Energy ESK 165's.

Can be found at: (http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com) under products/energy/System/ESK 165

Their highs are nicely rounded off and should eliminate that shrill high end my stock speakers produce. I'm also going to add Dynamat insulation to the fronts.

Questions:

1) What is the speaker layout of the car? I know the front doors consist of the tweeters and mids but what are the 2 rear door speakers? What sizes are they?

2) Will this stock head unit have enough power to provide a good sound with these speakers or should I not bother unless adding an amp/new head unit.

3) Does anyone have experience with Dynamat or Hertz products?

4) Any recommendations or guidance for a car audio virgin?

If it makes a difference, I'm located in Ontario, Canada. Thanks in advance!
