2009 VW City Golf 4dr/Auto

Hello all,

I am new to the VW brand. I picked up a 2009 VW City Golf 4dr and yes it is automatic, bummer but I bought this vehicle for very cheap off a close friend and it only has $150,000 Km's.

My question is I am looking to put some new summer rims and tires on it and was curious what everyone recommends for the size of low profile tire or what normal tires provide best performance.

I will be posting a lot of what might sound like stupid questions but like I said I know nothing about VW and I guess this is where I will get all my good info.

"wheels" that are used are mainly sized 18x7.5 to 18x8.5 tires size used are 225/40/18

^Those are GTI wheel/tire specs. For a Golf, go with 17's and 225/45/17's.

Golf City is basically an mk4 with different lights, so 17 would be his best bet without having to mess with wheel mods. I wouldn't even bother going with low profiles though OP, why suffer with a rough ride on a slow economy car, at least be comfortable. :iono:
