2010 golf mk6 1.4 petrol automatic - gearbox not selecting / slipping gears

hi guys i have a 2010/11 golf mk6 1.4 petrol automatic
i was driving the car it seemed to have lost power (gone into neutral) and i adjusted the gear to reselect Drive, it gained power again

after this instance the car would not either go into reverse or drive, it would slip in and out of this mode when starting the car or whilst driving (which is obviously dangerous)

i have had RAC to have a look and they came back with the following analysis

RAC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM

System Type: GEARBOX ELECTRONICS

Name: GEARBOX ELECTRONICS

DTC: P17BF,Hydraulic pump Play protection

DTC: P0841,Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance DTC: P189C,Reduced function because of pressure drop. DTC: P1895,Reduced function because of pressure drop. cust advised veh was loosing power and now wont drive ptrl carried out tests and suspect internal fault in gbox

at the moment it is at a garage who is saying he 'thinks' the ecu has gone but will need to look at it further to investigate and it would be around £500-600 pound mark

can anyone suggest any advise what i should do ? or what the problem could be

do i need to take it to a transmission/gear box specialist?

thank you

There was a recall here in the UK to have the mechatronics (gearbox ECU / valve body) filled with mineral oil instead of synthetic oil on the 7 speed DSG.....the reason being is the synthetic oil can overtime cause the mechatronics to short out or malfunction, particulary in hot weather - resulting in false neutrals like you have.

You car being a 2011 would have had the problematic synthetic oil in the mechatronics.

You need to check this recall work was done with VW (check with a dealership, they will know the history of the car) - if not then i would argue that VW are liable for this as it is a design flaw that a recall was made on, they should replace the mechatronics free of charge.

spoke to vw office

they said in 2014 and oil replacement was done on the gear box (couldn't get exact specifics of what she said as she mumbling)
they said there are no other outstanding recalls

Well looks like the recall work was done....you will need a new mechatronics for sure with the errors you have listed above.

I would see if you can get some goodwill out of VW, argue that the problematic oil for all those years before the recall may have caused some long term damage, and what with all the recalls around the world on this gearbox for both clutch issues and mechatronics failure you would argue that it has an inherent design flaw and as such you hold them liable for repair.

Stand your ground, threaten legal action if needs be - they usually fold and give you goodwill, maybe just for parts at first - but push for 100% parts and 50% labour.

It will help a lot (and maybe necessary to even get the ball rolling) if you have had a lot or all of the services done by VW.

Still waiting for hear back
From
Vw . They don't seem to know about this fault and are adamant recall was done and is fixed however let's see if I get anywhere

In the worst case scenario how much do you think I am looking at cost wise £

Also just another question I don't think there is anything fused or short circuited but I recall when I had my car stereo installed the mechanic who did it was wiring stuff on the gear box as I didn't have the correct harness adaptor . Not sure if something with this method may have caused a problem although that was a few years ago . Thanks

is it likely to be a mechatronics problem? as a garage is saying 7./10 times it can be fixed and he will be able to do is£180 all in
(will send off for repair)
