I think it's a poser move for sure, you have a GTI, be proud of it, throw a lip on it, paint the gray part your body color, whatever, just don't try and make it something it's not. That kind of shit doesn't fly in the honda or BMW communities because more people are aware of say; what an M3 bumper looks like, when people put an M3 bumper on a 328i it just looks cheap and wrong. And even the general public can see that. VW is a little more subtle so I get why people are cool with it. But it's the same thing and it's poser all day long!

Nothing poser about wanting better parts, we all buy them. Whether it's a downpipe, tails, or an R bumper, it all plays. Would I spend the money to actually do it? Nope.

Honda guys do that? Kinda lame. Anyway, if you like the R bumper, do eet! Now! Get to the choppa

I kind of like the GTI bumper...I mean it looks so wide to me, with that unbroken dark area, makes the whole car look wider.

He's right they do, I just came from Honda as well...I do find some of it relevant though as it seemed the biggest flame at the time when I left 9Gen Civic was guys putting the DOHC VTEC decals on single cam civics, I think that's exactly like calling a car something it's not, which OP stated he's not going to do, so in this case I think it's fine, besides bumper swap is totally different than a decal add on
