Engine failure. What next?

Ok just wanted to get your feedback. No updates yet but I wanted to see what you guys say from these pictures. I'm not sure if you could tell a lot or not but that's what I saw today when I went to have a look.

Mechanic told me he drained all the oil. Tbh I am not sure what's going on anymore. I'm looking into getting someone else to have a look. I'll keep you guys posted

Look at new motors

I'm at 220,000 miles myself, and am planning on a new long block before 300k, for my own peace of mind. I've priced NEW long blocks around $3,500. Compare that to 1500 for a used engine, of unknown maintenance and abuse. It's a no brainer, even if you have to borrow the extra $2,000.


Those pictures just show the engine with the PCV removed. No clue why he would remove that though.

Probably to inspect the cam lobe, but yeah.
