Ready to race!
When I picked up my brand new 2010 GTI, I had noticed a scratch on the hood (possibly from the "detail" they give the vehicle before delivery), a smallish dent on the hatch, the front bumper was misaligned slightly, and the hatch door misaligned as well. I pointed them out, naturally. I did not however, have a hissy fit and ask that they fix everything.
Why? Well, quite simply put... the dealership's "body specialists" would most likely make these minor flaws worse, and add more if anything. I'd rather take my car to my bodyshop guy and have him work out the kinks. I just trust my judgement more over the dealer's suggestion to "repaint the hood" versus a simple cut/polish the scratch away on the hood.
Lastly, who wants to piss off the dealer that will be eventually servicing your car?
