Just enjoy what you have. The GTI is a fantastic car. I had a 09 GTI before this car, so i know how much fun that car is.
When i was 19 - 23 i was driving a beat up mk3 golf with 180k that i bought at the public auction for 1500. And you're lucky you have a cool dad like that. My dad only cursed me out for spending money on cars.
Enjoy the GTI and the S8 and be happy and you will have plenty of time to get an R later on. Save your pennies and buy a mk4 r32 as a project.
