Help! I drove my CW GTI through a construction zone and got some sort of tarry goop on the paint! The black stuff sprayed up from my tires onto the sides of the car.

I washed the car this afternoon, but the black stuff wouldn't come off without scouring. What should I use to get this stuff off the paint?

I've heard that WD-40 will work, but I want to make sure whatever I use is not too harsh on the new paint.

Whoa whoa wait! Don't use WD-40 or any of those harsh chemicals... it will harm your paint!

Just use some claybar. It'll get it off quickly and safely.

Bug/Tar remover, then wash off the remover. clay bar and rewax that area. Make sure not to scrub the tar into the paint, you want to "lift" it off.

what jmblur said, only bad part ideally you should wash, clay, and wax the whole car.

only doing sections can cause the paint to fade differently in the long run. thats partially my personal opinion though.

I hadn't waxed the car yet. Only had it 4 weeks.
