Gas pedal movement!

I’ve noticed over the past couple of days that my accelerator pedal has a bit of a rattle and since I’ve owned the car it’s been kinda loose/sloppy when not being pressed and can be wobbled backwards and forwards about 10mm or so (the movable part not the base), the only comparison I can make is to our Skoda yeti which has a very similar pedal and which is solid without any slack, I was hoping some of you guys could check your gas pedal to see if there is play in it at the top when not being pressed!

I’ve also seen this picture on the web of a pedal with this green part which mine doesn’t have, what is it and should I have one on the pedal???

To answer my own question, I believe the green part is the kickdown switch on a DSG gas pedal, I’ve no idea if that is correct though!
