Turn signal Issue

Jet DH

Passed Driver's Ed
So over the last couple of days my turn signal has been acting up.

Works fine for the left----

When I use it for the right signal, sometimes it will work fine.
Sometimes the left will flash and then the right signal will work.
Sometimes it flashes the left signal - with the stalk in the 'up' or right signal position.
Sometimes the right will flash one and then nothing.

All the bulbs are working so I think it may be the relay - or is this some kind of 'code' I am missing?

Or the switch is starting to go out.

Which I think is kind of soon on a 2013 model.

Any ideas or thoughts?

VCDS could reveal an electrical issue.

another easy check is to check your fuses.

sounds like a failing switch to me. jiggle it a few times when it acts up and see if that changes anything. the contacts inside the switch might be going south.

OP, did you ever figure out what was happening? I have a 2010 GTI with the same issue.

It started happening on a very cold day. It was about 0°F. I pushed the stalk up to change lanes and the blinkers began to go crazy.

I attributed the problem to the cold, but the issue persists since then.

I started messing with my stalk to test the issue. I noticed that pushing up on the stalk when it is already in the "up" position will make the blinkers change from right to left. It will either continue to stay left or will blink left once and then go back to blinking right until I drop the stalk to the neutral position.
