I was thinking I was done at stage 2+ but this is just way to tempting. I saw the post on the achtuning site yesterday and now here... I think when the sun comes back out the car is headed back to the shop. for a bit more love

Have you seen Achtuning's built motor APR Stage 3/4 build? They know what they are doing so if you chose to work with them, you'll be in good hands. :)

have you tested the flapper delete on the stage 2+ cars?
is there much of a benefit?

Basically the gains are exponentially more obvious the further up the power-band you go. A larger turbo, or a maxed out K04 will benefit from the flapper delete, but don't expect a jump in power like adding a downpipe or intake. Both of those are far more restrictive parts.

We did a little cold weather testing the other morning to see what the intercooler could do during back to back pulls as charge air temperature rises. Over 6 pulls, no cool down, 93 octane and the production software. Each pull was actually higher than what we advertise to the wheels. The data we advertise was collected during the summer, which is always pretty hot and humid down in Alabama!

Needless to say, the car feels good.

Curious from a development standpoint - why did APR decide to release a new Stage 3 setup for the R when there was already a K04 FSI Stage 3 package available?

Golf r = awd
All others = fwd

Golf r has strengthened internals so it can make more power. Plus it has a different ecu than the rest of the fsi motors.

The car comes with a K04. Our existing stage 3 kit did work for it but was only for sale outside the USA. After developing more on the platform we released a far better kit than before using all of the latest technology.

APR is pleased to present an intake manifold Runner Flapper Delete System for 2.0T FSI (EA113) OEM intake manifold.

Product Page

The APR Runner Flap Delete System (RFD) is a motorsport inspired upgrade designed to eliminate airflow restrictions within the factory intake manifold. This product is for anyone looking to maximize performance on highly tuned engines.

The runner flaps are individual plates, much like a throttle body flap, located within the intake manifold runners. Unfortunately even when opened to the maximum position, the flaps still represent an airflow restriction as illustrated in the graphic below.

The APR RFD System fills the voids in each runner after removing the runner flaps. Each piece is precision CNC machined from billet aluminum on APR's live tooling in house lathe.

Simply removing the runner flaps can cause adverse running conditions during cold start. However through proper ECU recalibrations, APR's able to provide RFD specific software for all APR software stages to eliminate this harsh running condition. This is a free upgrade for all existing APR ECU Upgrade customers.

Power Gains: At Stage 3 airflow levels, typical results showed a decrease in turbocharger lag, more than a 10 ft-lbs of torque gain and more than a 10 horsepower gain.

Recommendations: This modification is recommended for APR Stage 2+ and higher modified engines.

Application: For all 2.0T FSI (EA113) factory intake manifolds. If you're unsure which you have, please call for assistance.
