I don't find the design, fit, and finish of the M3 or wry to be up to the GTI, or else I would have bought one. It really is totally relative. For instance, for some people, the GTI is a dream car, and they are really stretching their budget to make it happen. For others, the GTI is simply a cheap fun car that is easy to mod, and they don't want to spend their money on a BMW, etc. All cars are different things to different people.

What I love about that scene is they're cruising PCH and pull into Neptune's Net. There are always hot cars and bikes there on the weekend. It's a nice drive and the food is good.

(I just sold myself on going this weekend)
