Sometimes radio won't tune in

I have a 2012 GTI SE with the original stereo. On a rare occasion (once every few months) I can only get 1 or 2 radio stations. Usually, in some areas, some stations come in with a bit of static. However, sometimes, I get this weird glitch in which nothing comes in. The display works, shows the stations, and even displays the song titles. But I don't get any sound. However, I can usually get one or 2 stations, and they come in perfectly.

I asked the dealer, but they told me that unless they can see it happening, they can't do much. They suggested it might be something atmospheric.

That's really weird. I'd suggest getting a video of this next time you can safely take on. post it here and show the dealer. Could be electrical, and as simple as checking the head unit's fittings or wire harnesses.
