I have a 2012 2.5 Golf only upgrade currently is an Awe Catback. I wanted to get a cold air intake. I like the neuspeed one alot. Do you guys think that i should really be worried about hydrolocking? Thanks

I thought about the same thing when considering a short air intake vs. a cold air intake. Given the limited amount of gains from either of the intake options, I went with the short air intake so that I wouldn't need to worry about this kind of problem.

What is making you lean towards a cold air intake rather than a short air intake?

Either one would be fine. I am just worried about hydrolocking. I live where it rains just about every day. Sometimes super heavy rain. So if i get an intake like this (https://www.urotuning.com/NEUSPEED-P-Flo-intake-Mk5-2-5L-2009-no-MAF-p/65.10.80.htm) would i really have to worry about hydrolocking?

The intake you are showing is a short air intake and not a cold air intake. I'm not a mechanic, so don't treat this as gospel or anything - but I'd have to think that you should be good unless it rains sideways and you are driving through 3-4 ft puddles.

I like this intake https://www.aemintakes.com/mobile/product.aspx?prod=21-733C
