I don't think you can't: As far as I know. Was the XDS only for the GTI?

-XDS mk6 is software

-XDS mk7 is software + LSD

I have read some Golf R owners installed at the most an aftermarket central differential unit & a more agressive Haldex controller.

You have one front & rear already. The aftermarket ones will just lock a bit more, in your case it is the Haldex controller (forces more power to the rear basically). In the other hand, the Quattro system in some Audis are the ones can get that physical upgrade.

from what Ive read the MK7 R gets a upgraded Locking Front and Rear Differential? What will the Pros/ Cons of these upgrades mean?

also am i missing any other AWD improvements between the too generations?

The MK7 is lighter and if they have re-tweaked the Haldex, it will definately will have better dynamics over the MK6 R. I don't think you 're missing too much, but the DSG to put down the power quicker.

XDS and the curent XDS Plus are always software only. ;)
Mk.VI GTI came with this as standard and the lesser Mk.VI Golfs as an option
(at least in Europe). Even more, all M.VII do come with XDS as standard.
The Mk.VII GTI still uses XDS Plus as standard, while the Performance Pack has
the true mechanical Borg-Warner made VAQ/FXD LSD.
The Mk.VII R uses software XDS Plus on both axles. There is no mechanical lock
besides the Haldex.
I don't see any way to adopt MQB software options to a PQ35/36 based car.
Most of the electronic hardware are new developements. Would you ever try to
run Win8 on a Commodore C64?

There are options though. Wavetrac, Quaife and/or Peloquin make true LSDs for
4motion cars both front and rear. As already mentioned, there's also a modded
Haldex controler. I'd strongly prefer the mechanical diffs, esp. for the rear diff.

The Mk.VII R is the first 4WD Volkswagen that comes with XDS Plus. The Mk.VI R
just had EDS and ASC, which didn't help on fast cornering at all.
VW may have done some smaller improvements on suspension kinematics, Haldex
and so on, but whatever they did, it works. The Mk.VII is noticably quicker on track.

With stage 1 and 100oct in the tank, I took 2 seconds off my lap by leaving them on. The car is fun without then but there's no doubt they're effective.

I've taking a few high speed banking off ramps @ 75ish and the car would start to loose grip and all the bells and whistles do kick in and seem to work there elf magic and spring the car around the corner with the utmost ease.

Mk4 and Mk5 yes but as I understand it no one has and probably no one will make a rear LSD for the mk6 R. Something to do with the factory diff not being removable so you'd have to replace more than just the diff
