Hey guys,

1. Last night someone backed up into my rear bumper, and sped off. No structural damage, but took some clear coat off. I don't really want to take it through the insurance because of the high deductible. Any suggestions?

2. I noticed my windshield has many dimples and scratches when the sun hits it and it's really bothering me. Is there a way to make it look better?

Thanks for your input.

Griots makes a window polisher try that for the window.

as for the bumper, i would just try to do a very light polish on the area and seal it.

1. The bumper may be fixable somewhat easy depending on the damage. No pics = no real advice I can give.

2. There are glass polishes, but when you talk about pitting, it's a sign you need to not follow other drivers as close. Pitting can only be fixed by replacing the glass. Talk to your insurance company though, as many will have a separate deductible for things like windshields. I had a $500 deductible but it was only $100 to have my windshield replaced.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll get a picture and an insurance deductible quote later tonight/tomorrow.

agreed no pics no real help can be given.

as for the windshield replace it, I've seen tons of windshields and more and more are getting pitted beyond repair at 20k - 70k miles.

Thanks again guys. Will try the glass wax.

Update w/ bumper: Looking at the rear bumper damage more, I noticed the clear-coat was messed up on several parts of the bumper. The rear bumper was rough whereas the rest of the car was smooth... Took it down to the dealership and it's going to get fixed through the warranty since it was a paint/clear-coat manufacturing error.

It's pretty impossible to get a picture to do the justice. It's really easy to tell when you are gliding your finger across the car though. It goes from smooth (whole car) to rough and unfinished feel (rear bumper).

Just really happy the dealership gave me a break because I feel like if the finish was correct in the first place the damage might not have even happened.

Going to get my sidemarkers re-done as well since I bought some from a user here that aren't matched well at all... worst $50 spent

What did you end up doing with your windshield? I've got some pitting due to having to commute through a construction zone every day.
