The k04 is a workhorse....its been in many, many cars and the failure rate imo is not a high one. It's a Borg Warner turbo who's one of the best manufacturers out there.
You're much more likely to experience other car issues from the added power...motor mounts should be upgraded, ic will be beyond stock capacity, pcv might blow if you don't have the newest revision or a CC.
The turbo itself is rock solid keep your oil fresh and imo use rotella t6, if not, keep it changed every 3k with other oils.
