Isn't the 100 octane mode the aggressive tune for the K04?

I recall getting a phone call from someone about knocking on that tune.

Wonder who that would be Lou?????

Sub par 100oct fuel on that aggressive of a tune will do it.

I've heard crazy numbers and power from that specific tune though.

I see about 2-2.5mph gain in the 1/4 mile on the 100 octane apr tune at the track. Ive run ms109 and the tt101 race gas. That's about 20ish hp gain. I guess for these cars that is massive/ crazy numbers.

Just from a timing increase. I'd say so.

No doubt.

But here is what I'm looking at. From the logs I have seen the turbo is falling off, albeit not as bad as an IHI, towards the top of the rev band. Now is that by design in the tune or is that because the turbo cannot push enough air?

If your N75 valve is closed all the way, shouldn't you be building maximum boost.

That's where the 100 Oct and timing advance come in to extract more power from the combustion cycle

To Arin, I recall seeing video of yours ( at least I think it was yours pushing quite a bit of boost...close to 25psi). How was that accomplished on the K04 from a technical standpoint.

I'm going off of Grambles logs watching n75 values and requested and actual PSI from the turbo.

Yes it's possible

You do NOT need their boost controller, i dont have it at all, and it's not as much a headache as you think

Its on my car right now at "stage 2"

No it doesn't take long, espcially considering that Tapp would supply you with a K04 base tune ive already inquired about it

There is a LOT more to that story with him and RAI than has even been put on here.

now i probably wont be checking this thread all that much, if you have any questions feel free to PM me and i'll answer anything i can

They didn't have the skill to do a simple timing belt job on my 1.8t 20th years ago, car ended up at the dealer to fix their work.

VAP Motorsports tuned a EURODYNE K04 MK6 that is running over 25psi and is a Daily Driver. With stock exhaust/street tires it has trapped 114+ in the 1/4 on 93!

The price is well under 700$ for the tune from what I recall!

Hold it on Arin. That golf gti k04 in russia was running race gas, while all other cars were on pump gas (ron 98). It is a bit incorrect to compare cars on different fuel types. In Russia race gas is also hard to get, so for everyday racing these results does not apply at all.
Everyone should know that race gas allows to use much more aggressive ignition timing.
Talking about that GTI (I know the owner), on pump gas it has shown 360 hp (crank), on race gas it has shown 396 hp. That is significant difference.
And it also had quite special tuned file (no program switching, only one program, not usual for APR, hm? ) for that concrete day of racing - during that time APR specialist had visited Russia. All other cars were driving on the programs, which we use for everyday driving.
Don't be fooled by APR'ish marketing.
If it was running pump gas, the results will change. 40 hp difference is really significant in rolling races.

Vap is supposed to be really good at tuning eurodyne? I've seen the mk4 1.8t's at fixxfest and they were quick.

I've been thinking of going there if I ever decide to do an LSD, clutch on my gti.
