Turbo boost and P3CarsVent

Guys,

My setup was so far a 2012 Golf R APR Stage 2+.
I had purchased a P3CarsVent and an APR boost tap to do the boost readings (the reason why I had purchased the latter is because I thought I would get more accurate readings via the boost tap).
I had done tests, and in fact the difference in readings between Digital (from the ECU) and Analog (from the boost tap) were relatively small.

Last week I had my K04 swapped with a LOBA400, and my APR Stage2+ was changed to a custom UM tune (took a week or so to fine tune it).

My P3Cars vent boost readings now seem to give strange results.

During the break-in period of the turbo, the garage folks have limited the boost (via VCDS) to 25psi. And P3CarsVent's Digital reading gives me something consistent, about 25psi. So far no surprise.

What surprises me is that the Analog reading from the boost tap is now much higher, about 30psi.

Any idea why this would be ?...

The ODB2 cannot read boost that high. That's why your analog sensor is showing higher. It's showing the true reading. I learned this from another forum member when I went to the new APR K04 3.1 tune.

Thanks tdream1, this is very helpful.

Would you or anyone know what is the limit (in psi or bars if you prefer, I can convert myself) the ODB2 port can read ?

doesn't the golf r have the bigger map sensor? i thought it could see higher boost than that.

Not yet, but I'm going to go back to Top Racing and get this done in the next couple of weeks. Will post the results.

I just ran a log of the boost on my car. Both required and actually obtained.

See the below screenshot, it shows that my ECU is requesting 2920mb, and actually getting it. Even a little more.

Holy sh*t that's 45psi !!!

What's going on here ?

(in the second screenshot, the vertical bar is both RPM and mBar, same scale).

the boost reading includes atmospheric pressure. compensate for that before your psi conversion and see what you get.

Ok thanks Kern my garage specialist mentioned that earlier today, when I deduct 1000mb I'm getting exactly the 28psi required.
So all good.
