Keep in mind these invoice prices don't include behind the scenes incentives between the dealer and VW. So if you buy a car at invoice the dealer may well be making a profit nonetheless.
I got my 2011 4-door base for $23,000 (including destination and monster mats). Out the door was $25,500. I did ok, according to this.
