I heard that the door trim is plastic welded on and you have to drill it off?

No sir. All held in with clips, tabs, and screws. For reference, DIY on vortex can be found - Here

**Carbon Fiber - Installation is simple, as they stick on your plastic without any clips (Golf models).

^^^ YES SIR THEY DO!!! mine are plasti welded to the door panels... that link you posted is for the MADE in MEXICO plastic Jetta MK6, we are talking Made in Germany Golf MK6, Please double check your products before confirming... I've talk to three dealers and the third was kind enough to have a tech take the panel off and show me first hand for no charge... I would need to use a heat tool to remove the plasti weld and then re plasti weld the new parts in...

Maybe you should take some time and actually look at what is being offered for sale before you open your mouth.

If you look at the pictures, you can see plastic tabs at the bottom of all the trim pieces in the Brushed Aluminum kit, this indicates a European model source.

European model cars use plastic tabs, just like the ones made in mexico. Its only US models that they "plasti-weld" aka glue the panels to the door because they think we're all mouth breathers. With plenty of reason to ^^^

But in typical TDI owner fashion, you think everything made in Germany is somehow infinitely better.

European market models will have clips and US market models will have plastic welded door trim.

Remember you can use any kit you would like but, the non clipped kits will need adhesive.

Don't mean to sound disrespectful, but

Real good of a vender to tell me to take a look before I open my mouth, then the next post correct himself... funny how the AMERICAN market golfs are built side by side the European Market golfs and according to you, have a completely different interior assembly process... I highly doubt that Andy...

So, unless you are selling the GOLF kit, we are OUT of OPTIONS unless we want to painstakenly unplastiweld our kit, buy yours, and find it doesn't fit...

I don't work for ECS, I don't know how you came up with that assumption :iono:

What it comes down to is this:

The kits on the site that require adhesive are sourced from Volkswagen US. The trim kits that have clearly pictured plastic tabs on them are sourced from the European market.

Example: 5K1 858 415C DV8 can be sourced from US dealers

Now look at the one thats included in the above mentioned kit

Any of these trim pieces will fit ANY Golf just fine. In fact, snapping off plasti-welded pieces and replacing them with ones with tabs is a much less painful process. See the little plastic blocks next to the tabs? Those are the "Plasti-weld", if you don't heat them up, you don't have to worry about prying them off later.

Finally, ECS shows their MkVI GTI with the trim on it when you click on the brushed aluminum kit. No modifications notes and imho they look fantastic.

Read this thread on interior trim pieces, and low and behold, the "plasti-welded" trim pieces have clips! The only difference is that they heat up pools of plastic to secure those clips in place.

And going even further than that, I recommend browsing the DIY thread in general http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4243671-The-Official-MKVI-DIY-FAQ-Thread
