Squeal when locking

Over the last week my golf has developed a squeal when i double press the lock button or when i close the hatch after only unlocking the boot from the remote key.

it sounds like its coming from the petrol cap cover so i am guessing its something connected to the mechanism that locks that off. i was drawn to looking around this area after i noticed the actual cover itself seems to have developed a 'little' bit of play and can rock up and down, i don't remember this having any play what so ever when i first got it 2 months ago.

is anyone else having this problem?

i am booked in to have it looked at Thursday but it would be good to have a little knowledge of what it could be before i go in.

well they decided it was the motor for the lock on the petrol cap so they ordered a new one and are fitting it next week, fortunately / unfortunately the noise has now stopped and not reappeared in nearly 2 weeks now... do i get this changed still or not!?!
