It's a sad day. I absolutely understand it and stand behind the decision, but it's a sad day. This is not how I envisioned TG coming to an end.

I was literally 2 blocks away when misfiring started. Figure it was a coil pack so swung over and dropped it off.

Monday they said it was stuck injector.

Monday evening injector was replaced, no compression on one cylinder

Tuesday they tore it down and saw broken valve and piston.

21K miles on the car, I can't find much info about this kind of damage except for hydrolocking from going through deep water. I imagine the fuel would have same impact, but most people with stuck injectors say their engines have been fine (from my limited google searching).

Was going to swing by with some donuts and check the car out.

IIRC a fully loaded GLI was only $1k-2k less than a fully loaded GTI. We got our GLI for less due to it being last 2013 on the lot with less than 20miles. Otherwise they wanted $29k for the newest ones on the lot :laugh: I was like no thanks. Of course, this varies by dealer, but don't think MSRP was too far off between the two.

But the resale value of the GLI is worse than the GTI. So used they can be had for cheaper. KBB on our GLI is $16k trade-in with 11k miles :bellyroll: Our 2012 Jeep with 13kish miles was worth $20k trade-in when we got the GLI.

Problem with the Mk7 is they are on like their 6th turbo revision.
