I need some help. I recently bought a Highline cluster (Not the colour screen version) and wanted to fit it into my midline golf mk6. I took it to a VW dealer who tried to install the unit, but could not. They said the system gave an error message saying "EVT (or something) needs an update/upgrade".
The new (used) cluster is a 5K0 920 870. In my haste I bought a 870 cluster instead of the 871 (I currently have a 5K0 920 861 cluster), can anyone confirm if this might be the issue ?
1. Will the 5K0 920 870 work in my car ?
2. If not, must I get a 871 cluster ?
3. Can I upgrade to a 880 cluster ? (color screen version)
4. If yes to 4. what else is needed or is it a straight swap ?
