Hey all!

Some of you may know me already, I'm Adam from the Chicago area.

In the midst of trying to save for a house (Which seems more impossible all the time these days!) I have decided to 'downgrade' my prized ride.

Had to say goodbye to my MK7 SE 6MT today...

Was APR 1 with intake exhaust, fluidampr, headlights taillights yadda yadda. Great car! Miss it already.

20161009_142023 (Small).jpg

Went right from selling it to a guy from MN to being picked up by our buddy Jay745 who was kind enough to give me a ride to inspect a K04 car...

00K0K_g9GjazTHwEk_1200x900.jpg

It was in a minor accident that damaged the rear door and panel which was repaired semi decently. It has 40k miles and runs/drives amazingly! I got it for a STEAL and it has the following mods:

APR K04 kit
SPM Catted DP
Full unitronic intake
Rev9 intercooler
Stoptech pads, R1 concept rotors
Upgraded pancake pipe
GFB DV+
4 tune flashes
DSG tune
R8 Coils
034 Engine mounts
HPA Dogbone

Think thats it! Pulls right in line with the tuned MK7 but the tighter gears feel STRONG!

So really not much of a downgrade, and gotta say this thing rides a LOT nicer than the MK7 haha. Needs a bit of TLC

Mods I currently want to do: (mostly cosmetics at this point)
R20 headlights
LED tails
Badges
Probly wheels
Meth kit
Leather seats
RNS510 radio
Front lip

I am a modder so this car will continue to be modded even though the engines already there haha. Suspension stuff maybe we will see.

Anyway thats it for now! Thanks for reading.

Well ordered my first few parts/things:

New fuel filter (As i am at 40k miles right now)
White painted front euro lip from deutsche auto parts
RCD510 radio (i dont use nav so figured id save a few hundred bucks vs the rns 510)
New fog light housings (mine are consensating on the inside and look like crap)
fog light tint film since the clear fogs look kinda gay
6000k fog HID kit
black VW badges for front/back

And some detailing supplies - mequiars cutting microfiber pads, sonax cutmax compound, and a swirl finder flashlight/pen. Gonna give the paint a real nice workover within the next few weeks!

Besides a scratch on the passenger door, no other existing paint damage except the rear quarter where the repair shop did a less than stellar job and the paint has chipped off and there is some rust. I may have to get that taken care of somewhere as i am a detail freak!

Also the aftermarket sideskirts are chipping their paint off as well, and i can order some prepainted skirts off ebay to replace them.

Front bumper has a dent too, which i will see if i can massage out with a heatgun. If not, i might just have to do the 'unthinkable' and grab a golf r bumper (just love the look sorry if that makes me a poser) and go that route.

More to come! :)

EDIT: MIGHT (might!!) snag a set of MK7 Golf R wheels/tires this week since the cheesewheel rims that came on this car are ugly, curbrashed and low on tire tread :)

I do like it! :)

I did notice something though that has me SICK TO MY STOMACH THOUGH!

Worried the mechatronics unit may be out.. here and there coming from a complete stop to moving i get a jerk, and when coming to a stop in auto mode you really feel it rowing through the gears making stopping kind of non-linear and unpleasant.

Its a 2012 with just over 40k miles which now that it's 2017 may put me out of the 5 year factory warranty. My local VW dealer likes me though so i'm REALLY hoping if i go get it checked out and they do see the unit is out, i would be covered. Fingers crossed!!

Especially with it being a rebuilt title and k04 etc i'm unsure how it could go!

thanks Jay. I did the 'reset/calibration' operation on vagcom last night didn't help much. however i pullled my head out of my ass and realized if the mechatronics unit was out then there would have been some codes no? lol.

I just hit a MAJOR roadblock though!!

Went to register the car yesterday. The title says REBUILT, and per the illinois state police last week if the title says REBUILT i should have no problem registering the car.

But when i went to the currency exhange yesterday they flagged my car as a SALVAGE title! And now, unless an actual DMV would just let me slide through, i need to wait atleast 8 weeks to go through a state inspection and pay out the ass to get this thing 'legal' even though it drives perfectly fine!

Yea, I think bringing the car back to IL with rebuilt title is the issue. I imagine if it was titled in IL prior to you buying it, it wouldn't be this hard.

Wow, looks like a headache. Do you have all the certification from the re-build that you need?

http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/sos_dop102.pdf

Documentation
The following documents must be presented before the
inspection begins:
• Properly assigned salvage certificate in the name of the
rebuilder exactly as it appears on the rebuilder’s
license. Upon arrival at the station, the
odometer reading must be noted on the application.
• Properly completed application, in the name of the
rebuilder, for a rebuilt title.
• Properly completed salvage affirmation identifying all
essential parts that have been replaced on the rebuilt
vehicle.
• The original uniform invoices (bills) for all essential
parts changed; junking titles/applications in the name
of the rebuilder for vehicles from which essential parts
have been used to rebuild the salvage vehicle.
• IDOT vehicle inspection report and properly affixed non-
expiring sticker.
• Valid driver’s license of the driver of the salvage vehicle.
