Center bore on new wheels are just a tiny bit to small

Never had this happen to me so I thought it would be good to ask. I have a 2013 VW Golf and it has stock steel wheels on it. I bought some 2016 Jetta GLI wheels to replace the stock wheels with. The front wheels went on fine, but on the rear the center bore was ever so slightly too small to fit over the hub. there was about a 1/16 to an 1/8 of clearance from the mounting face of the wheel to the hub.

like I said I have never seen a situation where the fronts fit fine, but the rears don't fit. my initial thought is to take a dremel to the inside of the center bore on the rim and clean it up. im sure if I cranked on the bolts I could pull it in, but that didn't seem like a good idea.

thoughts?

That's a strange situation. Have you taken some steel wool and/or sandpaper to the bore and the hub to try to get them as clean as possible?

I had to narrow down my center bore caps when I got new rims. Used a hot razor blade, a knife, and sandpaper.
