Tjasko's Golf R Build

tjasko

Go Kart Champion

I've finally convinced myself to start a build thread... mainly because things are starting to get serious and I can barely fit all my mods in my signature anymore. :bellyroll:

I'm not new to these cars; I've had a stage 2 MK6 GTI as well, however I sadly had to part ways with it and a Golf R was my obvious next car. I found the R, went to the used car dealer, test drove it, gave the car a thorough mechanical inspection, and bought it same day back in May 2015. Fun fact: I never even test drove my GTI before buying it brand new, I knew it was exactly what I wanted.

My Golf R is built to be a daily-driven, track-ready car that can have the throttle hammered and be able to take a comfortable, leisurely cruise all at the same time.

Thanks to for everyone below getting things done on the car. :)

Definitely a beautiful ride! Lemme know how you like the APR IC when you get it on. I'm debating between that and the Neuspeed!

I bought my GTI in May of 2015 as well. I was like you in a way, I test drove a CW autobahn and liked it but didn't want the leather so I did a full mechanical inspection of the one right next to it, a base model, and bought it.

Thanks man! Absolutely love this car.

I've had the APR intercooler on my GTI & loved it. Which is why I'm installing it again. However Neuspeed makes a great intercooler too. Both keep the temps down nicely when compared to stock, so you can't go wrong with either; matter of preference really. :)

Thanks! My car definitely screams my personality lol. Ohh yeah, I love the look of the wheels, they're just a big pain to clean.

I've been 2+ for about three months or so. I'd highly recommend it; it will chew up more gas when you give it, but boy does it change the dynamics of the car. My R boosts significantly higher as well, at a 30.5psi in the most perfect conditions.

I have no regrets with the Autotech upgrade and I'm glad I didn't spend a fortune for APR's HPFP. And it plays perfectly with the tune, only thing is it's recommended to change your can follower every other oil change (for me that's 10k).

Ready to race!
I spotted myself in your thread! Great build! Keep it up!

Hehe, yeah, after I did some touchups to that image in Photoshop I had to use it because it was too good.

PSS-10s will be going on Saturday the 13th. :happyanim:

You gonna come to the meet to show off the coilovers?

I'm coming to the Monday meet, but Raz had to move the install to this weekend as he was too busy (like expected, they didn't want to set up an appointment until they actually received them, which was on Thursday). This weekend is a set date, so I'll have 'em Saturday afternoon.

So I'll at least have them for Last Sunday. Hopefully they receive my intercooler soon as it's supposedly on back order from APR... so I can have both in time for Last Sunday. [emoji51]

My APR intercooler is installed. Initial impressions are way better than I was expecting. The performance of the car is easily ~20hp more and the car hauls some serious butt. I had no idea it was that much of an airflow restriction.

Bilstein PSS-10s going on tomorrow. [emoji106]

Bilstein PSS-10 coilovers installed. Two words: holy shit. It rides significantly better than my previous setup (just Neuspeed race springs) and handling has been significantly improved. Totally worth the money... and the car is at the perfect height now as it's not scraping on my driveway! [emoji106]

I'm very excited to feel how it performs up in the canyons and on the track.

I know, right?!?!? I friggen love my car even more now.

The funny thing is I was speaking with Raz on some good other mods to do, and we had no idea other than like big brakes and such. Feels a little weird really...
