They hold up very well during a 20 min lapping session, but they are definitely not for racing. There is a major brake cooling problem on the GTI. So first you will have to remove heat somehow from the rotors.

The pads do fine for HPDE's and other general track days. I am still convinced your issues lie with your brake fluid. I have had my pads on several tracks with high speed braking zones and had 0 issues without even removing my dust shields, as has my friend in his MK5.
Obviously if you are doing an endurance race of some type you dont want anything designated for street use at all.
