I have my car in for work right now @ the dealer...I added this to the list and asked him to do whatever was on the TSB. They've updated my firmware previously but the last one didn't fix this. I guess tonight I get to find out if this new TSB did (which he confirmed they DID do yesterday while working on the car).

I've had the car back now for most of the evening. I am thrilled to say all traces of the initial skipping of tracks are gone!!! Not one song skipped for me...and virtually every track did so prior to this TSB. This has bothered me to no end since day one and I can't believe they finally got it right. I will say that while they did improve the interface speeds, the improvement to that aspect was marginal and still leaves something to be desired.

Where did you get the file from?

Just having the skipping gone would be a thrill to me.

Ditto...and actually, today I noticed the interface IS much faster. I guess I didn't really pay attention to it enough last night since I was so excited about the iPod skip elimination and at the same time, cursing my dealership for botching my headliner/sunroof.

I updated mine a while back, but that TSB and update has been revised again, making this the second official NAR update. (several were available via USB stick and download but they were not official for the US)

Factory:

Address 2E: Media Player 3 (J650) Labels: None
Part No SW: 5N0 035 342 B HW: 5N0 035 342 B
Component: SG EXT.PLAYER H13 0084
Revision: A1001003 Serial number: 7667440739
Coding: 010000
Shop #: WSC 01357 011 00200

1st Flash (as per the scan 2/6/2011):

Address 2E: Media Player 3 (J650) Labels: 5N0-035-342.lbl
Part No SW: 5N0 035 342 D HW: 5N0 035 342 B
Component: SG EXT.PLAYER H13 0140
Revision: A1001003 Serial number: 7667440739
Coding: 010000

I'm running this on Saturday but the SWL should be 240 or higher now and this is SVM live online not the CD based update like last time. 91-11-14 April 21, 2011 (2024337) Supersedes T. B. 91-11-06 dated Mar. 14, 2011 to convert to SVM procedure.

Edit: The final results after the update as per scan: Thursday,30,June,2011

Address 2E: Media Player 3 (J650) Labels: 5N0-035-342.lbl
Part No SW: 5N0 035 342 E HW: 5N0 035 342 B
Component: SG EXT.PLAYER H13 0240
Revision: A1001003 Serial number: 7667440739
Coding: 010000

I haven't noticed any functional issues, but I don't use that often due to my Android phone choice and Pandora BT music streaming preference.

It's the number you give the techs at the dealership so they can look up the information that they need to update the software in your stereo.
