It is a 2013 Golf R with 8,700 miles on it. The vehicle was a VW corporate lease that our owner purchased specifically for modification.
At the beginning of the month, we became a VW Certified APR dealer.

I can see all that add up to 10k max definitely not 20 invested. The best bet is for that guy to sell it to his corporate idiot friends cuz non of us is gonna justify that price. A base R with matte black color even I wouldn't trade my GTI for that thing, probably mistreated and abused. He can claim all the power he wants, to me a modified car thats for sale needs a dyno chart, besides he forgot to change the coilpacks and clutch too.

Unless they found a buyer that wanted ALL that done to the car, without worries of how the previous owner drove the car. Thats gonna be a tough market, in this case and most cases aftermarket parts are definitely going to hurt the sale of this car; even at a much lower price point.

I asked him how he got 20k out of that and sent him this,

APR Intercooler - $1049.99
APR TBE - $1912.49
APR HPFP - $1099.99
Intake - $599.99
Short Shifter - $249.99
NEUSPEED Hi-FLO turbo discharge pipe - $169.99
VWR 5mm interlocking hub spacers - $179.99
BBK - $2799.99
Springs - $329.00
BBS CH-R - $660/wheel = $2640
Tires - Aprox. $1000 (high end estimate)
Matte wrap - wraps usually cost about $600-$700

This brings me to a total of $11,731.42. Now you are definitely tuned but didn't list it so lets add that in.

Stage 2+ tune - $549.99
Total - 12,281.41

I didn't put in the G2 calipers because I couldn't find pricing for them but they won't be 7.8k.

Can you explain where this 20k in mods comes from?

Now link them to this forum so they can see how ridiculous that price point is and maybe if they're lucky someone on the forum will come pick it up for 30k.

i might as well get the new r cheaper than that, although if its cheaper and have some dough, i would snag that in a heartbeat

i got the same response with the parts list. i sent them my car info and parts list and asked for a quote on trade-in value since they were so generous about charging for aftermarket parts and labor. no response to that email yet.

its like they are asking a price for every penny that they have in the car +5% for profit. I'm interested to see how long it sits/what they actually take for it.

I would have replied the exact same way, interested to see where he came up with 20k, clearly he does not keep record of his mods or he just wants to make a lot of money claiming it to be super fast and whatnot when a normal customer with a little bit of knowledge can do the exact same thing for much cheaper. I think 30 or 32 max would be fair. Someone should convince him to part out and trade in his car that way we can both benefit more from the sale.

I bet the person that was trading it in took a big hit, he should have parted out and got his money's worth while he could, unless they gave him 40 for it that would have been crazy.

Oh dear lord I have created a monster...

I'm happy my thread caused plenty of lolz and speculation though. Very satisfying.

According to him the dealership bought the car to mod it so it was never traded in or owned by anyone other then the dealership owner.

They just sent me this email when I listed out the prices I found:

"In all honesty, I have APR specialists that can go over specific pricing on each part for you. Is there a good telephone number where a rep can reach you?"
