Discovered a oil change secret by accident

Hi Guys,

last time i did my diy oil change and forgot to replace the washer/seal.
I got oil leak, after two weeks I drained the oil again to replace a new seal.
I thought I was wasting money, but that is where the miracle happened.
My GTI drives like brand new, engine feels super smooth. i took the dipstick
out, wow the oil was still gold color even after two weeks.

I am a low mile guy. two weeks is around 200-300 miles. the second oil drain
wasn't really wasting money but cleaned the engine and flushed the old oil
better.

my last diy oil change:

Intriguing as I often wondered about doing this as a complete oil flush. Kind of an overkill but glad to read you show good results. :w00t:
Let us know what you see at the next scheduled oil change or next 5K mile mark.

Our engines aren't known for being sludge monsters. I'm definitely skeptical that an oil change would give you any noticeable performance or driveability boost at all.

Thank you! Consider the viscosity of oil, there must be some old oil left. second fresh flush will get them out.

I can feel the different. I drive manual, the engine physically connects to the transmission through clutch.

Automatic may feel different as there is a torque converter in between.

Nothing wrong with doing a short fill & flush. Cleans them out, but I see no need to do this unless it is to correct a leak as in the OP's case. Feeling smoother & brand new, well if you say so. Seems like the placebo effect.

I wont do that on every oil change, As it costs more. I think I will only do that once a while.

Trust me, really can feel the different[emoji2]
