The sound of the evoms is starting to get annoying. The only time I like it is at full throttle, The rest of the time it just sounds crap.

Do you guys think I will lose much power removing my evoms intake and putting the standard air box back on with a aftermarket panel filter.

I have edition 30 with a stage 1 map
The car made 286bhp on the rollers @ JKM.

To minimize that small loss of power even more (and improve it over stock) I'd recommend to
remove the lip inside the small box behind the grill. Remove the cover/cap and see what I mean.

there:

this lip:

removed:

smoothened:

Before this most of the air went into the engine bay.

BTW, I'd go for an OE paper filter.

This is kinda useless isnt it?

Air isnt "rammed" into our intake system its drawn by the turbocharger.

This piece fell off of my car ~ 2010 and I havent replaced it. Ive have had no issues with water or anything of the sorts.

Although, this is for an FSI engine, I dont think this applies to your guys' TSI engines. Isn't a Edition 30 a MKV anyways?

Have a look into your engine bay. It's basically the same.

Yes, this lip does hamper air flow.

Water is an issue indeed, but it is with most aftermarket intakes too.
I did it similar to the pics but with some slots for water to flow into the engine bay.
Same principle as stock, but much more cross area for intake air flow.

Feel free to waste money on aftermarket parts though.

Love to see a pic of your config.

For lower boost applications this is a viable option; however, high HP applications will need more surface area to pull from.
