vw.com showing 2011 or 2012 prices?

Folks,

Local dealer is telling me that pricing on vw.com for the GTI 2dr Autobahn of 29,995 incl. destination is for 2011 models, and 2012 went up about a grand. Is this true? I am trying to move on this quickly. Price they are quoting me for a 2012 of this spec is $29,392 incl destination, before taxes and fees. Is this a good deal? He claims it's 300 under invoice for the 2012 2dr Autobahn.

Thanks!

Nick

Not sure what VW.com is saying but if you check out truecar.com you'll get what you need.

Across the board, GTI prices for 2012 went up $650 over 2011 prices. That's it. Anything more the dealer is telling you, is a markup.

I did check invoice on Edmunds, and the dealer was being straight with me. Looks like I got the car for a few hundred bucks under invoice. I'm happy. It's a nice ride.

Haven't compared all configurations, but they didn't all increase:

2011 2 door manual GTI - MSRP $23,695
2012 2 door manual GTI - MSRP $23,695

Looks like the top spec versions did go up ~$650 though.

Well that's good! At least they are not trying to squeeze more out of the base model. I guess some options got more expensive? Nav? Sunroof? Who knows.
