New DSG '13 here. Any advice on first few thousand miles? Is there any break in period things I should know?

Not really. From what I've read, this car is already broken in so you can have fun with it immediately.

Don't go by what I said though.

"Break In Period"

1) Your car is purpose Built
2) 99% Of the break in is done from the factory
3) You're not going to hurt your car
4) Read: http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31220

Also, a better reference to what's ACTUALLY in the Owner's Manual

So what does that all mean? You're not going to really hurt it, honestly. For peace of mind, just take it a little easy until 1K.

Think about it like this, people test drive vehicles at the dealership right? These cars often have sub 1K and get driven to hell and back.

I beat on mine from the beginning. I maybe babied it for the first 150 miles, but that made for boring drives.

Just ticked over 5k miles this week. Planning on going Stage 1 soon :D

My wife doesn't really get on the pedal too hard, in her GLI. So her "break-in" was almost by the book. She just reached 4100 miles.

I did what the manual said. Averaging about 600 miles / month, it went on forever. Now with 1300 miles I regularly peg it to red.
