Reducing the height of the shift knob?

I'm not taking about a short shift kit. I want to actually lower the height of the shift lever/knob. Has anybody done this? I just don't like how tall the shifter stands in the car. My old MS3 short shifter mechanically reduced the throw, but also reduced the height of the knob due changing the stick itself to a shorter piece. Just wondering if anybody has done this or knows a guy who did, etc....

the twm knob i have allows you to lower the height a little bit. If you decide to cut the stalk be careful. It's easy to cut it too short.

I cut mine a while back, pretty easy to do if you have a sharp saw, which I did not.

It feels really nice, and with my diesel geek ss it feels like the bolt of a sniper rifle

I cut mine down about a half inch and love it. I'd even cut more off but there is a point where the rod becomes solid so it makes it more difficult. I still think mine is too long.

I cut my shifter almost an inch. I also have a twm shift knob and DG short shifter- it's awesome. First few mods I did when I bought the car.

I cut mine about 1.25". Love it. I appreciate that little mod every single day.
