Some info on my car before I mention what just happened. Full exhaust/cai/ forge twintercooler GIAC stage 2 tune/r8 coils and cts throttle pipe. Just got a new water pump installed about 1k miles ago car currently sitting at 16,500. Pulled into the street and when I punched it my car popped backfired and the engine light flashed. Let if the gas and it went away...any ideas what that would be from? First time it's done that

U sure it was the engine light and not traction control flashing and kicking in?

Yeah I'm sure it revved up didn't want to accelerate. Like it hit a governor or something. It was weird

sounds like you just hit the fuel cut... were you WOT spinning the tires in first gear?

Has it happened again? Do you have a CEL on? Have you read the codes?

Could be:
Bad Plugs
Improperly seated plugs and/or coils
Bad coils
Bad gas
Car not properly warmed up
All the above.

Doesn't sound like fuel cut or rpm limit to me. Sounds like misfires. I need you to see if you have pending codes.

No I was in 3 when it happened and car was warm. Drove 3 hrs and pulled over and it was idling for about 10min before I took off again. Hasn't happened again because now I'm afraid to floor it from a roll lol.
