You dont have to! Just take the screws out that hold your undercarrige thats above your wheel (like in that pictures) so it slides out enough for you to put your hand through to unclip the sidemarkers

So are you guys just sanding and painting the side marker, or are you replacing the marker with a body-colored replacement cover?

I painted it :
1) sand it..stop when you are not able to feel the the serial number
2) primer (2 times for me)
3) paint (4 times )
4) clear (3 times)

looks exactly the same color...

i sanded it down smooth
4 coats of black paint
then 3 coats of clear

Ok after sitting outside in the cold trying to unscrew the under carriage pieces i still can't push the sidemarkers through. I'm convinced they are clipped or screwed on from the inside. Hopefully tomorrow my friend will help me remove the bumper and get down to business.
